Pilates

At Maximize our use of pilates is based on physiotherapy and movement analysis and can be adapted for all levels of fitness, age and body types. Pilates is a rehabilitation and conditioning method based on a series of controlled movements.
Pilates is available at our Camp Hill, Macgregor, Coopers Plains and Calamvale clinics
The secret to a healthy spine, pelvis and shoulders is appropriate strength of the deep stabilizing muscles of the body which is achieved by developing body awareness through regular correct exercise. Pilates will tone, strengthen and condition your deep stabilizers while increasing the flexibility of larger muscle groups such as the hamstrings and upper trapezius. It will improve your posture, core stability, mobility and flexibility to effectively energize your body.
Pilates is closely linked with physiotherapy injury rehabilitation as it strengthens the body from inside out and enhances the clients control and awareness of movement. Physiotherapist delivered pilates is precise and individualized. Problem areas are managed by the physiotherapist throughout a session to enhance correct recruitment of dysfunctional muscle to enhance injury recovery and reduce postural pain.
Pilates is ideal for anyone suffering dgenerative problems (wear and tear), due to our use of reformers and wunda chairs resulting in the majority of exercises being low impact, and with minimal gravitational loading. Pilates is also great for athletes looking to enhance thier technique. For example it can increase shoulder stability in swimmers and enhance pelvic control in cyclists or runners.
Sports specific skills from beginners to elite are catered for, with our small classes and one on one sessions are available.
